Caves of Thaïs

The Caves of Thaïs extend through 400 meters of accessible galleries, featuring an underground river system and naturally colored rock formations in red and black.

Archaeological evidence indicates human occupation during the last Ice Age, approximately 15,000 years ago, when early inhabitants used the cave for shelter and tool creation.

The cave contains an engraved bone artifact known as number 250, which researchers interpret as one of the earliest examples of lunar calendar tracking.

The cave maintains a constant temperature of 13 degrees Celsius throughout the year, and guided tours in English and French last approximately one hour.

Speleologists have mapped four kilometers of underground passages, with ongoing explorations revealing additional sections within the limestone network.
