Château de Bertangles, French Baroque château in Bertangles, France.

Château de Bertangles is a castle with a symmetrical design, grand stone facades, and ornate architectural details from the 1730s. The buildings display classical French style with large windows and carefully crafted decoration throughout.

Architect Germain Boffrand built this castle between 1730 and 1734 for Count Louis-Joseph de Clermont-Tonnerre. The structure expressed the wealth and power of the aristocracy through its refined classical design.

The château reflects how French nobility of the 1700s decorated their homes, with furnishings and artwork that still fill its rooms today. You can observe the refined tastes and artistic choices that mattered to the aristocracy of that time.

The castle can be visited on guided tours that show you the rooms and explain what you see. It is helpful to check visiting hours in advance so you can plan your trip properly.

In 1918, King George V honored General John Monash at this location in a rare battlefield ceremony. This event connected the castle's story to a significant moment during the First World War.
