Chapelle de Trémalo, Gothic chapel in Pont-Aven, France

The rectangular granite chapel features a Cornish-style bell tower with pierced stone and buttresses at each corner of the western façade.

Built in 1550 by Guillaume du Plessis and Catherine de Botigneau, the chapel displays their coat of arms near the choir of this former Nizon parish.

The interior houses the wooden polychrome Christ that inspired Paul Gauguin's famous 1889 painting 'The Yellow Christ' and his subsequent self-portrait.

The chapel remains open to visitors daily from 10:00 to 17:00 between October and June, with extended hours until 18:00 from July to September.

The south wall features sculptures believed to represent the Seven Deadly Sins, while an angel holding a scallop shell adorns the west gable.
