Alain Bashung's tomb, Grave in Paris, France
The grave of Alain Bashung is located in the Père-Lachaise cemetery in the 20th arrondissement of Paris, in division 13, near the Casimir-Perrier roundabout. The stone marker is plain and low-key, with no elaborate decoration.
Alain Bashung, born in 1947, was buried here in March 2009 after a long illness. The grave remained without a stone for some time due to a dispute between his family and the funeral company, and the final marker was only put in place at the end of 2010.
The gravestone carries the inscription "Tant aimé" (So loved) and a design of concentric circles that recalls a vinyl record. Fans often leave flowers at the base of the stone, making the spot a quiet place of personal tribute.
The grave is in division 13 of Père-Lachaise, close to the Casimir-Perrier roundabout and not far from the main entrance. Visiting early in the morning is a good idea, as the area tends to be much quieter before tour groups arrive.
Bashung holds the record for the most awards in the history of the Victoires de la Musique, the main French music prize, with eleven trophies in total. His last awards were given to him when he was already too ill to perform, just weeks before he died.
