Mambourg

Mambourg is a Grand Cru vineyard in the Alsace region, located on south-facing slopes between 210 and 350 meters in elevation. The terrain is divided into several parcels where different grape varieties grow side by side.

The vineyard appears in a document from 783, when it was jointly managed by local lords and nearby monasteries. This early record shows the region has been known for wine production for over 1200 years.

The vineyards grow Gewürztraminer grapes known for their spicy, full-bodied character, along with Riesling and Pinot Gris varieties. These grapes define the taste and style of wines produced here, which you encounter when visiting local cellars.

Local wine producers offer tours and tastings throughout the year, with special events during the autumn harvest season. Visitors should check ahead to see which estates welcome groups or individual guests.

The location between the Vosges Mountains creates a continental climate with reduced rainfall, which affects how the grapes ripen. These particular conditions allow the vines to develop more complex flavors.
