Eltham Common, Local Nature Reserve in Eltham, England

Eltham Common is a nature reserve at the base of Shooters Hill in Eltham, southeast England, with grasslands and walking paths. The site connects with surrounding ancient woodlands and provides multiple routes to explore.

The site gained local nature reserve status in 1992, bringing several adjacent woodlands under protection. This designation connected previously separate forest areas into one unified protected site.

The Green Chain Walk passes through this common, linking multiple green spaces that residents and visitors use for walking. These routes connect different parks across the wider region.

The common is located on Well Hall Road in Eltham and features accessible paths for visitors of all abilities. The area is managed by the Royal Borough of Greenwich parks department and offers open space for walking and exploring.

The grasslands form an ecological corridor between several distinct woodlands, allowing wildlife to move between isolated habitats. This natural connection is important for local animal populations to thrive.
