Dempsey Store

The Dempsey Store is a two-story building with Georgian architecture located on Beecroft Road, featuring symmetrical windows and classic proportions. The historic storefront at street level has been carefully preserved during the building's restoration.

The building was constructed in 1860 as a hardware store at a busy intersection and served the community for many decades. In 1996 it was relocated to its present site to save it from demolition.

The building shows how shops once combined living and selling spaces under one roof, which was common practice in rural areas at that time. Visitors can read from this structure how commerce and daily life evolved in this part of Toronto.
