Reif Estate Winery, Family-owned wine estate in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Canada.
Reif Estate Winery is a family-run wine producer in Niagara-on-the-Lake located on roughly 125 acres along the Niagara River. The vineyards have been planted since 1977 and create wines from grapes grown directly on the property.
The estate was founded in 1977 when Ewald Reif brought his family's winemaking tradition from Neustadt, Germany, to the Niagara River area. He established this property to continue the family's European winemaking heritage in Canada.
The Wine Sensory Garden displays different grape varieties in separate sections, allowing visitors to compare Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, and Chardonnay side by side. You can taste and smell each variety to understand what makes them distinct.
The estate opens daily from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM between May and October, welcoming visitors without the need for advance booking to taste wines. The paths across the grounds are easy to navigate and clearly marked so you can explore at your own pace.
The property maintains some of the oldest vineyard blocks from the original 1977 planting, which supply grapes for the exclusive First Growth Collection wines. These mature vines produce grapes with greater concentration and character.
