Museum Langmatt Sidney and Jenny Brown Foundation, Art museum in Baden, Switzerland

Museum Langmatt is housed in a 1901 villa designed in Art Nouveau style with attached gardens that frame the building. Inside are French Impressionist paintings alongside rotating exhibitions of contemporary works.

Sidney Brown, a technical director at Brown Boveri & Cie, and his wife Jenny assembled their art collection between 1908 and 1919. The villa later became a public foundation to share the collection with visitors.

The villa served as the family home and reveals how the Browns lived with their art collection daily. Visitors can see the personal spaces where these collectors surrounded themselves with their favorite paintings.

The museum operates on weekdays and weekends with afternoon and morning opening times, though it closes for a winter period. Plan at least two hours to browse the paintings and explore the garden grounds comfortably.

The collection holds rare early works by Cézanne and Gauguin that were among the first of these artists to enter Swiss museums. These purchases helped introduce French modern art to Switzerland in significant ways.
