Rosengart Collection, Art museum in central Lucerne, Switzerland.
The Rosengart Collection is an art museum located in central Lucerne that displays important works by Pablo Picasso and Paul Klee across three floors. The building is a former National Bank structure from the 20th century with classical architectural features.
Siegfried Rosengart and his daughter Angela built the collection through direct acquisitions from artists, opening it to the public in 2002. The two collectors had maintained relationships with many modern artists and purchased works directly from them.
The collection holds more than 100 works by Paul Klee from different periods of his career, including paintings, drawings, and prints. This body of work shows how the Swiss artist developed his style over decades, from his early sketches to his abstract pieces.
The museum is open daily and you can walk through all three floors to view the artworks from different perspectives. The rooms are well lit and the displays are labeled with information to help you understand the pieces on view.
The original conference room from the former bank building has been preserved, showing 1920s architecture with wood paneling and original furnishings. This space offers a rare glimpse into the working environment of a historic Swiss bank.
