The fortified settlement spans across 233 hectares on a peninsula formed by the Upper Rhine meander near the Rhine Falls.
The Celtic oppidum settlement emerged in the middle of the second century BCE and remained active until approximately 15 BCE.
Archaeological findings reveal a center of trade and coin production, indicating advanced economic development during the Celtic period.
The site extends between Jestetten in Germany and Rheinau in Switzerland, with archaeological artifacts displayed at the Colombischlössle Archaeological Museum.
The excavations uncovered the Altenburg Column, a bronze pendant considered among the finest Celtic art pieces in South Baden.
