Slickrock Trail

Slickrock Trail is a mountain bike path spanning 10.5 km across bare Navajo Sandstone with natural loops and varying terrain. The bare rock surface is what gives the trail its distinctive character and riding experience.

The trail was originally built in 1969 for motorcycle use and later transformed into a leading destination for mountain bikers. This shift happened while motorcycle riding continued to be permitted on the same route.

The trail attracts mountain bikers from around the world and has become a gathering place for riders seeking challenging terrain. The community of cyclists shapes the experience and makes it a central destination for people drawn to this sport.

Riding is best during cooler months when temperatures are milder and the sun is less intense. Good footwear and plenty of water are important, as the bare rock becomes slippery and the heat can be demanding.
