Arches National Park

The park contains over 2,000 natural stone formations shaped by erosion, including sandstone arches spread across 310 square kilometers of red rock terrain.

The region shows evidence of human presence dating back 10,000 years, with Fremont tribes and Pueblo Indians among the first inhabitants before Spanish missionaries arrived in 1775.

Edward Abbey's work as a park ranger led to the publication of his book Desert Solitaire, which increased public interest in outdoor activities in this region.

Located 8 kilometers north of Moab via Highway 191, the park offers hiking trails, camping sites, and guided walks from March through October.

The park sits above an underground salt deposit formed 300 million years ago when an ancient sea evaporated, creating the foundation for the current landscape.
