Cherry Hills Country Club, Golf course in Englewood, Colorado, US
Cherry Hills Country Club is a private country club in Englewood, Colorado, offering a golf course and facilities for members. The property sits near the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, featuring 18 holes with rolling terrain and mature trees lining the fairways.
The club was founded in 1922 and became the first venue west of the Mississippi River to host the U.S. Open in 1938. Palmer won his first major tournament here in 1960.
The course design by William Flynn represents traditional American golf architecture with strategic bunker placements and natural elevation changes throughout the layout.
The grounds are open only to members and their guests, with facilities including tennis courts and swimming pools alongside the golf course. The club organizes regular social events and dining occasions throughout the year.
The first hole is one of the few opening par-4s that can be driven directly with a long tee shot. Flynn designed the course intentionally so most greens can be approached from the front rather than over obstacles.
