Boyd Lake State Park extends across 2,082 acres, featuring a 1,700-acre reservoir for water activities and camping at the foot of Long's Peak.
The reservoir originated from two basins constructed between 1905 and 1906 by irrigation engineer Burton D. Sanborn before becoming a state park in 1965.
The park functions as a central gathering place for northern Colorado residents who participate in outdoor recreation and nature education programs throughout the year.
Visitors can access the park through the main entrance at 3720 N County Road 11-C, with daily vehicle passes costing $10 and individual passes at $4.
The park hosts over 200 bird species, including Great Blue Herons, while providing opportunities for water skiing, ice skating, and hunting in different seasons.
