Hunter Hereford Ranch Historic District

Hunter Hereford Ranch Historic District is a historic ranch site in Grand Teton National Park containing multiple log buildings such as barns, sheds, and residences spread across 160 acres beneath Shadow Mountain. The structures were designed by architect Eber E. Piers and constructed by local carpenters from the Nelson family.

James Williams established the original homestead on this land in 1909, marking the beginning of human settlement at the site. William and Eileen Hunter later acquired the property and transformed it into a developed ranch during the 1940s.

The property has served as a filming location for multiple movie and television productions, including 'The Wild Country' and Spencer's Mountain in 1963. This connection to film history adds another layer of interest for visitors exploring the region's entertainment heritage.

The site is located within Grand Teton National Park and managed by the National Park Service, which ensures its protection and preservation. Visitors should note that the structures are rustic and access may vary depending on the season and weather conditions.
