Lake Bixhoma, body of water
Lake Bixhoma is a reservoir in Oklahoma located roughly eight miles southeast of the town of Bixby. The water body covers about 110 acres with a shoreline stretching nearly 13 miles, situated on Leonard Mountain at an elevation close to 900 feet.
The reservoir was constructed in 1965 to provide raw water for the city of Bixby. Since its creation on Leonard Mountain, it has served both as a water source and a recreation area.
The lake's name connects to the region's early history and local heritage. Visitors experience the tradition of quiet outdoor pursuits here, where families gather to fish, picnic, and spend time by the water together.
The site is open daily from early morning until late evening for visitors. A fishing license is required for fishing or boating, though visitors over 65 and children under 12 are exempt from this requirement.
After heavy rainfall, small waterfalls form along the terrain, making the walking trails especially popular with visitors. These natural water features become favored spots for nature enthusiasts and photographers exploring the area.
