Ponca City

Ponca City is a city in Kay County, Oklahoma, laid out on flat terrain with a grid-pattern street system. The community features residential neighborhoods mixed with commercial areas and public parks throughout.

The city originated during the Cherokee Strip land run of 1893 when B.S. Barnes established a settlement near the Arkansas River. Rapid oil discovery and development soon transformed it into an economic center.

The Poncan Theatre and Marland Mansion are landmark buildings from the 1920s that showcase Spanish Colonial Revival and Art Deco design, reflecting the city's oil wealth during that era.
