Ema Gordon Klabin Cultural Foundation

The Ema Gordon Klabin Cultural Foundation is a private art museum housed in a 1950s residence located in the Jardim Europa neighborhood. The building blends classical and modern design elements and displays more than 1500 artworks ranging from ancient pieces to contemporary works.

The foundation was established after a fire damaged the Museum of Modern Art in Rio de Janeiro in 1978, prompting the collector to safeguard her extensive holdings. This incident led to the transformation of a private residence into a publicly accessible art venue.

The foundation reflects the personal vision of its founder, who sought to share her passion for art with others through this private residence. Walking through the rooms, visitors encounter a mix of European works displayed alongside Brazilian pieces, creating a dialog between different artistic traditions.
