Paphos Zoo, Zoo in Peyia, Cyprus
Paphos Zoo is a zoological facility in Peyia housing more than 350 animal species across different habitat areas. The spaces are designed to match the natural living conditions of each animal group.
The zoo was established in the early 2000s as an advancement for wildlife conservation on the island. This development helped bring organized protection and study of wild animals to Cyprus.
Daily presentations feature parrots and owls that teach visitors about animal behavior and conservation. These shows let you watch how the animals interact and learn about protecting wildlife.
The zoo sits on the road between Paphos and Coral Bay, above the village of Peyia, and is reached by car or bus from Paphos. Paths climb and descend across the hillside, so allow several hours and wear shoes suited to walking. Some enclosures are viewed from raised walkways.
The facility works as a rescue center taking in injured and orphaned animals from around the island. It also runs breeding programs to help restore populations of native species.
