Portelet Bay
Portelet Bay is a small cove on Jersey's south coast featuring a shingle beach and shallow waters ideal for wading. The shoreline is framed by cliffs and offers views toward offshore rock formations and the open water.
The bay developed as a natural anchorage and was used over centuries by fishers and seafarers. Today it remains a quiet coastal location without the major industrial transformations that other ports experienced.
The best visit is at low tide when more beach is exposed and the water becomes even shallower for wading. A narrow path from the nearest car park leads down to the bay, making access relatively straightforward.
At very low tide, visitors can wade to the nearby offshore rock, something impossible at higher water levels. This seasonal variation makes each visit different and gives the location a constantly shifting character.
