Lake Wörther is an Alpine lake in the region of Carinthia, Austria, located near the town of Velden am Wörther See. The water has a blue-green color that shifts depending on the time of day and the weather.
Glaciers shaped the lake basin at the end of the last ice age, leaving behind a hollow that slowly filled with meltwater. From the late 19th century onward, wealthy visitors from Vienna discovered the shores and built grand summer villas that still stand today.
