Hauser Kaibling, Mountain summit in Schladminger Tauern, Austria
Hauser Kaibling rises to 2015 meters (6,611 feet) and forms one of four interconnected summits within the Schladming ski region in Styria. This group of mountains shares lift systems and slopes that connect them into a cohesive skiing and hiking area.
The mountain was developed as a ski destination in the 1960s when the first cable car was installed to reach the summit. This infrastructure transformed it from a hiking-only destination into a major winter sports center for the region.
The summit serves as a gathering place where mountain visitors and skiers meet and exchange their experiences with one another. The mountain registry book creates a personal record of these moments and connects people across different seasons.
Two main lifts provide access to the mountain: the Schladminger Tauern cable car and the Hauser Kaibling gondola, both operating year-round. Weather conditions at altitude can change rapidly, so dressing in layers and bringing extra clothing is advisable regardless of the season.
During summer months, pink alpine roses bloom across the slopes, creating natural gardens at high altitude. These flowers transform the mountain landscape into a colorful display that is particularly visible in the mid-elevation zones.
