Brandnertal

Brandnertal spreads through three villages - Bürs, Bürserberg, and Brand - enclosed by the Rätikon mountain peaks. The landscape shows steep valley walls, green meadows in lower areas, and rocky heights that divide the valley into different elevation zones.

Human settlement in this valley spans more than 2000 years, showing how long people have lived in this Alpine area. The Dörrenhaus structure on the Tschengla plateau remains as evidence of early buildings that have survived to today.

The Spark Fire festival occurs after Ash Wednesday with burning towers and lantern processions through Bürs village streets. These fire rituals connect the community through a tradition passed down through generations.

The valley offers around 400 kilometers of hiking paths with options for all skill levels, from short waterfall walks to longer mountain routes. Visitors should bring sturdy footwear and weather-appropriate clothing, as conditions vary greatly depending on season and elevation.

Lünersee lake at the valley's end shifts its turquoise water color based on weather and season, creating shifting visual patterns. These color changes happen because tiny particles in the water reflect light differently depending on conditions.
