District Museum Brigittenau, Local history museum in Brigittenau, Austria.
The District Museum Brigittenau displays the history of Vienna's 20th district through photographs, documents, models, and industrial artifacts housed in a historic building. The collection also features a large Danube exhibition in an annex with additional displays.
The collection was founded in the 1930s as a private gathering by police inspector Heinrich Zwicker. It moved to its current location in 1994 and documents the industrial development of the district.
The name comes from the 20th district of Vienna where it stands. Inside, you see old photographs and objects that show how the neighborhood looked and how people lived there.
The museum is open on select days with limited visiting hours. The courtyard area is accessible during opening times and occasionally hosts events.
In the courtyard stands an authentic ship anchor beside a peace bell from the water. These two objects recall the district's long connection to the Danube.
