Thiersee, Natural monument lake in Tyrol, Austria
Lake Thiersee spans 26 hectares at 616 meters elevation, with a length of 700 meters and width of 450 meters in the Thiersee Valley.
The lake remained isolated until World War I when authorities constructed a road connecting it to Kufstein, opening access to the region.
Between 1946 and 1952, Lake Thiersee served as a central location for Austrian cinema, hosting productions like Lottie and Lisa and Bluebeard.
The lake offers Grade A water quality with temperatures reaching 24 degrees Celsius in summer, making it suitable for swimming and water activities.
Several small creeks feed into Lake Thiersee before its waters flow through the 7-kilometer Thiersee Ache stream into the Inn River.
