Podersdorf Lighthouse, Lighthouse in Podersdorf am See, Austria

Podersdorf Lighthouse is a roughly twelve-metre tower of metal segments with a red-and-white paint scheme, standing on a jetty that reaches into Lake Neusiedl beside the small harbour at the western edge of Podersdorf am See. It serves as an optical seamark and as a landmark for the municipality.

The lighthouse was built in 1998 to guide boat traffic and warn water users of storms on Lake Neusiedl. This structure represents a modern addition to navigation safety on the inland lake.

The lighthouse has appeared on Austrian postage stamps: a four-stamp edition of May 2021 in the "Sehenswürdigkeiten in Österreich" series, and a May 2025 single stamp with a print run of 350,000 plus 1,750 in rolls, face value 3.10 euros. In October 2021 it was also included on the "100 Jahre Burgenland" commemorative stamp, issued in 120,000 copies of 2.10 euros each, designed by Anita Kern and printed by Joh. Enschedé in the Netherlands.

The structure is not open to the public for entry, but visitors can walk along the jetty to photograph it and enjoy views of the lake. The area is easily accessible and provides clear sightlines across the water and surrounding landscape.

The lighthouse has appeared on Austrian postage stamps three times: in a 2021 four-stamp set of Austrian landmarks, on the October 2021 "100 Years of Burgenland" special issue of 120,000 stamps showing a stork's nest, a glass of red wine and the tower, and on a 2025 single stamp with a print run of 350,000.
