Friedensglocke des Alpenraumes, Peace bell in Telfs, Austria
The Friedensglocke des Alpenraumes is a large bronze bell located in Mösern near Telfs, featuring a diameter of 2.54 meters and weighing approximately 10,450 kilograms. The bell stands at an elevation of 1,180 meters, positioned to overlook the Inn Valley.
The bell was created in 1997 to mark the 25th anniversary of the Alpine Countries Working Community. It represents a shared commitment to peace and cooperation among the Alpine nations.
The exterior walls display the emblem of Arge Alp and the coats of arms of its ten member countries, representing the unity of Alpine regions.
The bell can be reached via a walking trail of about 90 minutes starting from the Seewald-Alm parking area. Access is free year-round and the path is clearly marked.
The bell rings daily at 17:00, sending its message across the Inn Valley where it can be heard from distant points in the region. This daily ritual creates a moment of pause in the surrounding communities.
