Hohenzollernhaus, German Alpine Club mountain hut in Radurschltal valley, Austria
Hohenzollernhaus is a mountain shelter of the German Alpine Club sitting at 2,123 meters in the Ötztal Alps within the Radurschltal valley, surrounded by the Glockturm Group peaks. It serves as a base for hikers and climbers exploring the high-altitude trails and rock formations of this remote Alpine landscape.
The hut was built in 1924 and originally managed by the Hohenzollern Division of the German Alpine Club. Management later transferred to the Starnberg Division, which continues to operate it today.
The mountain hut maintains certification as a family-oriented facility, welcoming children and parents who venture into the Austrian mountains for outdoor activities.
Visitors can reach the hut either through a four-hour hike starting from Pfunds or via a two-hour climb from the Wildmoos parking area in Radurschltal. The location is most accessible during summer months when trails are snow-free and conditions are most stable.
The area is home to ibex, marmots, eagles, and bearded vultures that are regularly seen during summer months. For wildlife watchers, this elevation offers a rare opportunity to observe these large raptors in their natural habitat.
