The Gepatschhaus and Maria Schnee Chapel form an architectural complex at 1928 meters elevation, featuring a mountain shelter and religious building in the Ötztal Alps.
Built in 1873 as the first German Alpine Club hut in Austria, the Gepatschhaus underwent several expansions and renovations in 1892, 1911, 1958, and 2005.
The Maria Schnee Chapel, constructed between 1894 and 1895 by members of the German Alpine Club Frankfurt Section, serves mountain communities with regular religious services.
The shelter provides 46 beds and 60 dormitory spaces, operating from mid-June to mid-September, with an additional winter room containing 8 sleeping places.
The facility stands near the toll-required Kaunertaler Glacier Road, constructed in 1980, with a climbing garden located in the nearby Fernergries area.
