Fluchtkogel, Mountain peak in Ötztal Alps, Austria
Fluchtkogel is a mountain summit in the Ötztal Alps that rises to 3,500 meters above sea level. Its northwestern face features steep ice walls, while the top itself offers a broad, flat platform.
The summit was first reached on July 19, 1869, when climbers Valentin Kaltdorff and Franz Senn, along with their guides, completed the ascent. This achievement marked an important milestone in the exploration of the region.
The mountain represents an integral part of Tyrol's mountaineering heritage, attracting climbers who seek to explore the peaks of the Ötztal Alps.
Most climbers start their route from a trailhead near Vent at approximately 1,900 meters elevation. Multiple access routes are available through the Hochjochhospitz, Brandenburger Haus, and Vernagt Hütte areas.
The route across Guslarferner glacier toward the summit crosses numerous deep crevasses that demand careful attention. Proper ice climbing equipment and techniques are necessary for safe passage across these areas.
