Wildspitze

Wildspitze is an alpine peak in the Ötztal Alps, standing as one of the region's highest points and featuring a distinctive double summit. The terrain around both peaks is shaped by glaciers, with a rocky southern section contrasting against the snow-covered northern area.

The first recorded ascent took place in 1848 when Leander Klotz reached the summit, establishing the initial climbing route. This early exploration led to the development of established pathways that mountaineers follow to this day.

Local mountain guides maintain traditional climbing techniques while leading groups through established routes between the Breslauer and Braunschweiger mountain huts.

Most climbs start from the Breslauer Hut and cross glacier terrain on the way up, with ascent times around four hours. Climbers should prepare for changing terrain and elevation that demands proper gear and good physical conditioning.

The mountain is surrounded by several large glaciers that shape the terrain and define the climbing experience in ways climbers must adapt to. These glacier landscapes shift continuously, changing the appearance and conditions of the mountain from year to year.
