Mittlere Guslarspitze, Mountain peak in Ötztal Alps, Austria

Mittlere Guslarspitze is a peak in the Ötztal Alps that rises to approximately 3,150 meters. The route climbs through Alpine meadows and passes across rocky sections along clearly marked trails.

The Guslarspitzen were first climbed by the Schlagintweit brothers between 27 August and 8 September 1848. The three summits lie in the Weißkamm above the Rofental, a source valley of the Venter Tal, and the Mittlere Guslarspitze reaches 3128 metres. The 1894 volume by Heinrich Hess in Eduard Richter's Die Erschliessung der Ostalpen records the early exploration of these peaks.

The three Guslarspitzen are named in the plural after the Guslarferner glacier on their northwest side, which still reaches up to 3100 metres. The peaks were first climbed by the Schlagintweit brothers between 27 August and 8 September 1848. Today the normal route from the Hochjochhospiz leads over the Deloretteweg to the summit cross of the Mittlere Guslarspitze in about two hours.

The hike starts at Vernagthütte and requires decent physical fitness and sturdy mountain boots. The path is well marked, but mountain weather changes fast, so you should bring proper gear and check conditions beforehand.

The Guslarspitzen were first climbed by the Schlagintweit brothers between 27 August and 8 September 1848. The three summits are close enough that, from the cross on the Mittlere Guslarspitze, the others can be reached by easy scrambling of UIAA grade I.
