Leutkircher Hütte, Mountain refuge in Lechtal Alps, Austria
Leutkircher Hütte is a mountain hut situated at 2251 meters elevation on the Almajurjoch mountain pass in the Lechtal Alps. The facility provides lodging for 76 guests distributed across dormitory and shared rooms.
The German Alpine Club built the hut in 1912 as a key resting point for mountaineers crossing the Lechtal Alps region. Since its establishment, it has served as a vital station for hikers traversing this mountain area.
The hut participates in the 'So schmecken die Berge' initiative, serving meals made with ingredients sourced from the surrounding mountain valleys. This approach connects visitors to how the region's food culture remains tied to local farming traditions.
The hut accepts visitors from late June through September and recommends making reservations in advance, especially during peak summer months. Location on a mountain pass means good access via hiking trails, but sturdy footwear and appropriate mountain gear are essential.
From the hut, visitors can reach multiple mountain peaks including Hirschpleiskopf and Stanskogel for day trips. Its location along the Lech Valley High Trail and Eagle Walk makes it a natural hub for connecting different multi-day hiking routes through the Alps.
