Dobratsch Transmitter Tower, Communication tower in Bad Bleiberg, Austria.
The Dobratsch Transmitter Tower is a broadcasting tower in Bad Bleiberg that rises approximately 165 meters high. The structure combines a concrete base with a steel lattice mast attached at the top.
The tower began operations on October 15, 1971, replacing a previous broadcasting facility located on Pyramidenkogel mountain near Klagenfurt. This relocation allowed for improved signal coverage throughout the Carinthia region and beyond.
The tower represents the advancement of Austrian broadcasting technology, enabling radio and television transmission throughout the Carinthia region and neighboring areas.
The site sits at an elevation of about 2,115 meters and is not easily accessible to the public. Maintenance is handled by a private cable car system that connects the facility with Bad Bleiberg.
The tower broadcasts radio signals with 125,000 watts of power and reaches listeners across Austria, Italy, and Slovenia. This cross-border coverage makes it an important transmission point for the entire region.
