Palais Schönborn, Baroque palace in Josefstadt, Vienna, Austria
The Palais Schönborn features stone staircases, ornate facades, and detailed stucco decorations throughout its grand architectural design at Laudongasse 15-19.
Friedrich Carl von Schönborn commissioned the palace in 1706 after his appointment as Reichsvizekanzler, with construction completed by architect Lukas von Hildebrandt in 1714.
The palace houses the Austrian Museum of Folklore since 1920, preserving and displaying traditional cultural artifacts from across the country.
The palace remains open to visitors who can explore its baroque architecture and museum collections through guided tours in the Josefstadt district.
The palace grounds once contained notable tulip gardens and housed Rembrandt's painting 'The Blinding of Samson' before its relocation and sale.
