The Gamskarkogel mountain rises to 2,467 meters above sea level, showcasing views of the Hohe Tauern and Northern Limestone Alps from Wilder Kaiser to Dachstein.
In 1829, the first shelter dedicated to mountaineers in the Austrian Alps was constructed on Gamskarkogel summit under the supervision of Archduke Johann.
The Badgasteiner Hütte preserves its traditional mountain architecture, maintaining the original kitchen area from 1829 while incorporating modern facilities after renovation.
The hiking trail begins at Grüner Baum at 1,066 meters, covering 12 kilometers with 1,400 meters of elevation gain through meadows and mountain terrain.
The mountain path features small dwarf statues positioned along the edges, displaying motivational messages for hikers ascending toward the summit.
