Heinrichshof, Residential building at Ringstrasse, Vienna, Austria
The Heinrichshof stood as a grand residential complex facing the Vienna State Opera, featuring intricate facade decorations and pavilion structures at its corners.
Completed in 1863 by architect Theophil Hansen, the Heinrichshof marked the beginning of substantial residential development along Vienna's Ringstrasse during the city's expansion.
The building represented the architectural preferences of Vienna's rising middle class, combining Renaissance elements with Classical proportions in its design.
The structure merged six separate plots into one harmonious development, establishing a new standard for large-scale residential buildings in central Vienna.
The Heinrichshof suffered extensive damage during World War II in March 1945, leading to its replacement by the current Opernringhof building.
