Schloss Rosenhof

Schloss Rosenhof is a castle in Sandl, Austria, situated at about 960 meters elevation and featuring architectural components from multiple periods. The estate encompasses the main building, extensive French-style gardens, and supporting structures that together form a spacious manor complex.

Prince Eugene of Savoy, an Austrian military commander, acquired the property in the early 18th century and undertook substantial expansion. He transformed an older fortified structure into a representative castle with gardens, serving as a symbol of his power and status.

The gardens follow French design principles with organized pathways and plantings that descend toward the River March. This layout reflected how aristocratic families wanted to display their wealth and refined taste through nature.

The site maintains regular opening hours and can be explored by visitors, with a restaurant on the grounds serving local dishes. The grounds are fairly extensive, so allow ample time for a walk through the gardens.
