Hohenburg, Castle in Igls, Tyrol, Austria

Hohenburg is a former hill castle above the Lanserstraße east of Igls, now occupied by Schloss Hohenburg, a multi-storey building in Heimatstil that follows the foundations of the old residential tower. It has a hipped roof, timber-framed dormers and a turret, white walls with golden-yellow window surrounds and yellow-red painted quoins, and red-white-red shutters. The property is privately owned and can only be viewed from outside.

The castle was built as a defensive stronghold and controlled important Alpine routes during medieval times. It served as a key position for regional security and trade control.
