Heilige Jungfrau Maria von Zeituon Kirche, Vienna, Coptic church in Hirschstetten district, Vienna, Austria
The Coptic Church of the Virgin Mary of Zeitoun stands as a three-nave basilica with two towers flanking its entrance and three apses at the opposite end.
In 1998, Pope Shenouda III laid the foundation stone for this church, which was later consecrated in 2004 to serve the growing Coptic community in Austria.
The interior decorations, including the wooden iconostasis and carved church pews, were manufactured in Egypt following traditional Coptic artistic patterns.
The church functions as the episcopal seat for the Coptic diocese of Austria and German-speaking Switzerland, located at Quadenstraße 4-6 in Vienna's 22nd district.
The church's name references the 1968 Marian apparitions at the Church of Zeitoun in Egypt, which were witnessed by hundreds of thousands of people.
