Naturpark Föhrenberge

This 4,000-hectare park contains pine and beech forests across gentle hills, with marked trails connecting mountain huts and natural springs throughout the protected area.

The park received its protected status in 1974, establishing a conservation framework for the region's pine forests and the agricultural practices of local communities.

Local educational programs within the park inform visitors about environmental protection through guided nature tours and interpretive displays about regional flora and fauna.

Visitors can start their exploration from the Goldene Stiege parking area, following a 5-kilometer trail that leads to the Anninger Schutzhaus mountain shelter.

The black pine trees in the park developed special non-creaking wood properties, which made them particularly valuable for theater stage construction in previous centuries.
