Naturpark Ötscher-Tormäuer, Nature park in Lower Austria, Austria.

Naturpark Ötscher-Tormäuer covers 170 km² across the municipalities of Gaming, Puchenstuben, Sankt Anton an der Jeßnitz, Annaberg and Mitterbach am Erlaufsee. Its core features are the deeply cut valleys of the Erlauf (Vordere and Hintere Tormäuer) and the Ötscherbach (Ötschergräben), plus the Ötscher and Gemeindealpe peaks with their alpine meadows. Waterfalls such as the Mirafall, Schleierfall, Trefflingfall and Lassingfall, the Erlaufsee and Erlaufstausee lakes, and karst caves including the Ötscher-Tropfsteinhöhle lie within the park.

The park originated in 1970 from a protest movement against a planned hydroelectric plant on the Erlauf between Trübenbach and Gaming, following earlier construction of the Wienerbruck and Erlaufboden plants and a balancing reservoir in the Tormäuer. The Naturpark Ötscher-Tormäuer association was founded that year to keep the whitewater stretch intact.

The park connects directly to the Mostviertel region's identity, where cider production and forestry have shaped community life for centuries. The landscape remains central to how people in nearby villages understand their home.

Trails and gorge walks require sturdy shoes and weather-appropriate clothing, especially in damp areas. The best time to visit is from May through October, when all paths are accessible and weather conditions are stable.

The limestone formations here were created over millions of years and show layers that tell the story of the earth's history. Visitors can see these different rock layers directly in the cliff walls and understand how the landscape developed.
