The Neues Schloss is a castle with two separate buildings at squares 1 and 2, with a southern facade displaying eight axes. The structures maintain consistent eaves and ridge lines throughout, while both parts are protected as historical monuments today.
The castle was built in the 13th century and underwent major reconstruction around 1500 under Leonhard von Keutschach after being destroyed during the Hungarian War. This rebuilding shaped the current form of the structure.
The castle displays late Gothic style features that remain visible throughout its rooms today. The ornately decorated plaster ceilings and preserved windows define the character of the interior spaces.
