Neue Reichenberger Hütte, Alpine mountain hut in Lienz District, Austria
Neue Reichenberger Hütte is a mountain hut located in the Venediger Mountains at 2,586 meters elevation. The building provides sleeping accommodations in different room types and overlooks the surrounding peaks.
The original shelter stood near Cortina d'Ampezzo and was lost after World War I. This new facility was constructed in 1926 at a different location in the Venediger Mountains.
The mountain refuge maintains traditional Alpine hospitality through its family-operated management, serving regional meals and providing shelter to mountain enthusiasts.
The hut operates from June through September and can be reached via mountain trails. Visitors should bring sturdy boots and appropriate gear for high-altitude hiking.
The facility powers itself through solar panels and a small hydroelectric plant, which is noteworthy for such an isolated mountain location. A backup generator ensures reliability during harsh weather.
