Postalm

Postalm is a mountain hut located at roughly 1,691 meters (5,548 feet) in the Venediger group. The hut sits at a natural rest point for hikers moving through the high pastures and offers shelter and refreshment for those traveling in the area.

The hut was originally connected to the Gasthaus zur Post in the village below and came into the Ernst family's hands in 1911. The family, formerly named Maier, has run it as a mountain inn ever since.

The hut serves as a gathering point where hikers meet and share their mountain experiences with others. The straightforward hospitality creates an easy-going environment that invites people to linger and rest.

Visitors can reach the hut by walking from the Hopffeldboden parking area through forest trails that are generally clear and easy to follow. The walk takes roughly two and a half hours depending on fitness and pace.

The hut operates with five different energy systems including hydropower, thermal solar, photovoltaics, hydrogen electrolysis, and biogas production. This combination of renewable technologies is unusual to find at such an altitude and remote location.
