Kleinvenediger, Mountain summit in High Tauern National Park, Austria.
Kleinvenediger is a mountain peak in the Venediger Group of the Eastern Alps, rising to approximately 3,500 meters (11,500 feet). The summit area features rocky terrain and snow fields that shift in appearance throughout the climbing season.
The mountain saw its first recorded climb in the late nineteenth century, marking the start of regular mountaineering expeditions in the area. Since then, the route has become increasingly important for climbers exploring the higher peaks of the group.
The Kleinvenediger area maintains strong mountaineering traditions, with local guides passing down their knowledge of routes and climbing techniques through generations.
Climbers typically access the summit from Matrei in Osttirol via established routes, with July through September providing the best conditions for ascents. Proper preparation and equipment are essential, as mountain weather can change rapidly.
The mountain holds the position of fifth highest peak among 3,018 summits in Salzburg, with Großvenediger standing 1.3 kilometers to the west-southwest.
