Neue Prager Hütte

Neue Prager Hütte is a mountain shelter located at 2,796 meters in the Eastern Alps, offering lodging and meals to hikers. The building sits in an exposed position with views across the surrounding peaks and valleys of the Venediger Group.

An Alpine club from Prague built the first shelter here in 1872. The current building was constructed in 1901 to replace the original structure.

The hut brings together visitors from many countries who share meals and stories in a space dedicated to alpine traditions. This creates a welcoming community atmosphere where travelers connect over the rituals of mountain life.

The hut is reachable by alpine trails that require good hiking experience and proper equipment. Visitors should prepare for changeable mountain weather and allow plenty of time for the climb.

Beyond serving as a mountain shelter, this site operates as an observation station tracking environmental changes in the Eastern Alps. Scientists have used this location for years to gather data on alpine ecosystems.
