Schlieferspitze, Mountain summit in Venediger Group, Austria.
Schlieferspitze is a mountain summit in the Venediger Group that rises to 3,290 meters (10,791 feet). The peak is shaped by four prominent ridges extending toward the cardinal directions, with glaciers covering its northern, eastern, and western flanks.
Eduard Richter, a geography professor from Graz University, reached the summit with mountaineer Johann Stüdl in August 1871. This first ascent marked an important moment in the climbing history of the Venediger Group during the 19th century.
The mountain forms part of the High Tauern mountain range, connecting the valleys of Krimmler Achental and Obersulzbachtal in the Salzburg region.
The climb starts from Warnsdorfer Hut at 2,336 meters (7,664 feet) and follows a steep route graded UIAA II-. Good footwear and solid alpine skills are essential for managing the technical sections along this route.
Three glaciers surround the peak, each on a different side of the mountain and each with its own name. These ice fields create a special environment that attracts climbers seeking glacier-climbing experiences.
