Roggalspitze, Mountain summit in Lechquellen Mountains, Austria
The Roggalspitze rises to 2,673 meters and dominates the Lechquellen Mountains with steep limestone walls. Its southeast side features rocky terrain that gives the mountain its striking character.
Alpine climber A. Madlener completed the first recorded ascent in 1877 and established the initial route. This ascent marked the beginning of regular visits to the summit.
The name comes from the Romansh word 'rocca' and shows how Romance languages once shaped this Alpine corner. You can still see this heritage in place names throughout the region.
The normal route starts from Ravensburger Hut and takes about three hours with sections secured by steel cables. Visitors need sturdy footwear and should be comfortable with heights.
The north face poses a serious climbing challenge with a grade IV+ difficulty rating across 420 meters of exposed limestone. This technical route attracts climbers seeking a demanding experience.
